vitamins
Michelle S asked:

I got several different samples of prenatal vitamins from my doctor but they all make me really sick to my stomach, I read online that a lot of women are taking Flinstone Vitamins with Iron. Is this a suitable substitute?

Thats what I used too! My doc said it was okay!

  5. GG Mama Says:

From what I’ve read it is okay. Alot of women take additional folic acid with it to further help out their baby.

I’ve heard that a lot of women do this, and are even reccomended to do this by their doctors. The only thing is you should take twice the normal dosage, because dosage is measured for children. A friend told me she took one in the morning and one at night. She, too, couldn’t stomach the prenatal vitamins. They made her extremely sick.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

yeah for Iron it’s ok. But you really should get on some Prenatal vitamins because they have all the vitamins you and your baby need.

I take over the counter ones that are very gentle on my stomach. I have had some types of vitamins make me feel sick these never did they are the best.

Rainbow Light , Just 1 once, Prenatal vitamins.
They are great and guaranteed 100% natural.

I can only find them at Railys in the organic health food area.

i had the SAME problem. the prenantal prescribed by my doctor were making me sooooooo sick. turns out, it was the iron in them. they prescribed me good ol’ flinstone vitamins w/o iron and i’v been fine ever since. you dont have to take the ones with iron…as long as you are getting iron in other things. iron is what makes most people sick from the prenatals. goodluck and i hope the sick feeling goes away!! happy pregnancy :)

oh and p.s. the flinstone vitamins have the EXACT same ingredients AND dosages in them. so your not going to be missing out on anything for the baby. just follow the dosage instructions…adults take 1 vitamin TWICE a day :)

ABSOLUTELY!!! It is actually even better! I started off on my first pregnancy with prenatal vitamins and they made me so sick. I told my doctor and she said it was the added Zinc that was doing it, which was totally unnecessary to be in them anyways. She said to take the Flintstones, and I actually took the ones with Vitamin C, not iron, because too much iron isn’t good. They have everything you need and nothing you don’t. I swear by them for pregnancies, and tell everyone I know who is pregnant to use them! I was so excited to see your question, lol. They say they judge how healthy a pregnancy was by the umbilical cord at birth, and my doctor said she had never seen a healthier one! My son had a perfect apgar score, which is unheard of. My daughter would have too if she hadn’t been so big and had sugar problems at birth. My kids could lift their heads for 30 seconds at a time and turn them at 2 hours old! At 6 hours old my son was placed on his belly for his sponge bath, and he picked his whole head and chest up off the table! And the kids could both stand on our legs with help at a day old! Use them!
